I am not 'Sita' in Ravana: Aishwarya

Kolkata (IANS): Aishwarya Rai, who is currently shooting for director Mani Ratnam's film Ravana here, said her character is not called 'Sita' in the film that also stars her husband Abhishek Bachchan.

"The name of my character is not 'Sita'. I am playing a woman who has similarities with the Sita of 'Ramayana'," the actor told reporters at the press conference of her new Hollywood flick here.

Aishwarya, however, refused to give further details about Ravana.

"I can't give any details about Ravana at the moment. You will have to wait and watch. All I can say that it is an intense film set in today's time and Mani has given a totally new perspective to the art of storytelling," she said.

Asked if she is paired opposite Abhishek, Aishwarya said they never played a conventional couple on-screen.

Talking about Pink Panther 2, which has released in India on Friday, Aishwarya said the film is a "joyride".

The actor has been shooting for Ravana here since February 17. Abhishek is expected to join her soon. The shooting will continue till mid-March.

Establishment

The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935 in accordance with the provisions of theReserve Bank of India Act, 1934.

The Central Office of the Reserve Bank was initially established in Calcutta but was permanently moved to Mumbai in 1937. The Central Office is where the Governor sits and where policies are formulated.

Though originally privately owned, since nationalisation in 1949, the Reserve Bank is fully owned by the Government of India.

Preamble

The Preamble of the Reserve Bank of India describes the basic functions of the Reserve Bank as:

"...to regulate the issue of Bank Notes and keeping of reserves with a view to securing monetary stability in India and generally to operate the currency and credit system of the country to its advantage."

Central Board

The Reserve Bank's affairs are governed by a central board of directors. The board is appointed by the Government of India in keeping with the Reserve Bank of India Act.

Financial Supervision

The Reserve Bank of India performs this function under the guidance of the Board for Financial Supervision (BFS). The Board was constituted in November 1994 as a committee of the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India.

Objective

Primary objective of BFS is to undertake consolidated supervision of the financial sector comprising commercial banks, financial institutions and non-banking finance companies.

Constitution

The Board is constituted by co-opting four Directors from the Central Board as members for a term of two years and is chaired by the Governor. The Deputy Governors of the Reserve Bank are ex-officio members. One Deputy Governor, usually, the Deputy Governor in charge of banking regulation and supervision, is nominated as the Vice-Chairman of the Board.

BFS meetings

The Board is required to meet normally once every month. It considers inspection reports and other supervisory issues placed before it by the supervisory departments.

BFS through the Audit Sub-Committee also aims at upgrading the quality of the statutory audit and internal audit functions in banks and financial institutions. The audit sub-committee includes Deputy Governor as the chairman and two Directors of the Central Board as members.

The BFS oversees the functioning of Department of Banking Supervision (DBS), Department of Non-Banking Supervision (DNBS) and Financial Institutions Division (FID) and gives directions on the regulatory and supervisory issues.

Some of the initiatives taken by BFS include:

  1. restructuring of the system of bank inspections
  2. introduction of off-site surveillance,
  3. strengthening of the role of statutory auditors and
  4. strengthening of the internal defences of supervised institutions.

The Audit Sub-committee of BFS has reviewed the current system of concurrent audit, norms of empanelment and appointment of statutory auditors, the quality and coverage of statutory audit reports, and the important issue of greater transparency and disclosure in the published accounts of supervised institutions.

    Kareena and Deepika to add glamour quotient to ‘Billoo Barber’



    Shahrukh Khan’s home production had been facing a casting coupof leading lady for quite sometime now. Now, suddenly everything seems to be working. After Amisha Patel and Tabu backing out from the project, Lara Dutta has recently been finalized to play the wife to the lead character, Billoo Barber (played by Irrfan Khan) in this Priyadarshan directed flick.
    To add spice to the project, the most current hot gals of Bollywood, Deepika and Kareena, have been roped in not only for special appearances but also to do item songs with SRK in the film.
    In fact, reports say that Kareena has already shot her item number at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studios on Baisakhi. Deepika, who is presently busy shooting for ‘Bachna Ae Haseenon’, will shoot her song later.
    SRK talks about the film and says, “The film is about Billo Barber, played by Irrfan Khan, and his family. It’s mainly about the changes that take place in his life when a film’s shooting happens in his village. So, I’m not the main character.”

    Body care

    Mix six-teaspoon petroleum jelly, two-teaspoon glycerin and two-teaspoon lemon juice. Apply this moisturizing lotion at least twice a week if you have dry and flaky, arms and legs
    Peel and grate a cucumber. Squeeze the juice to this, mix half-a-teaspoon glycerin and half-a-teaspoon rose water. Apply this on sunburns, leave it for some time.
    If you have cracked heels, melt paraffin wax; mix it with little mustard oil and apply on the affected area. Leave it overnight. After 10 or 15 days, your heels will become smooth.
    Massage your body with a mixture of coconut oil and any of your favourite scented oils like lavender or rosemary. 
    For rough palms, use a mixture of glycerin and limejuice in equal proportion.
    For cracked heals, massage the foot with coconut oil and keep the foot in warm water for some time. Wipe the water off the feet and apply a mixture of hibiscus flower(10), Henna (1 handful) and juice of half a lemon. when dry wash it off.

    Remove scars on your hands and feet by rubbing them with lemon peel.

    Eye care

    Dip wads of cotton in a chilled mixture of cucumber and potato juice. Keep this on your eyelids for 15 to 20 minutes and gently wash it off. Apply a little baby oil.
    For long eyelashes.., apply a thin coat of castor oil every night. It strengthens lashes and cools your eyes.
    Massage a few drops of coconut oil around the eyes to get rid off dark circles. 

    To reduce puffiness of your eyes, grate a potato; tie in a cloth and place the cloth over your eyes for about 15 minutes.
    Add a small pinch of salt in water and wash for bright and sparkling eyes.
    Mix tomato juice and lemon juice in equal quantity and apply around the eyes. After 30 minutes wash it off with cold and hot water alternatively.
    Make a paste of sandal wood and nutmeg. Apply the paste around the eyes before sleeping and wash it off in the morning.
    Crush a cucumber and take the juice. Add a little rose water and apply around the eyes and wash it after 30 minutes.
    Place cotton wool swabs dipped in cold milk on closed eyes for removing dark circles.

    You can mix one-tablespoon cranberry sauce juice with two tablespoons Vaseline for a delicious home made lip balm.
